The Remote Access Server Manager is a specially designed CS121 adapter specifically developed
for the remote monitoring and management UPS systems, diesel generators and other
devices for power generation. This unit has a built-in modem for which both analoge and ISDN models are
available. The RAS Manager can be used universally, because
of its protocol independent working principle and hence can be used for
all devices with serial interfaces. In order to initiate an alarm call
from the monitored device an alarm contact has to be provided. Use any
Web or WAP browser to retreive monitored data. Use any Webbrowser for
setting configurations. Every alarm call is tagged with the date, time
the specific
alarm event and then written into the log-file. Depending on the
configuration, the alarm messages can be immediately sent to a service
technician (via SMS for example). Using a laptop with any kind of
operating system, a technician has then the
possibility to establish a dial-up connection to the UPS and to receive
further information, such as measurement values, log-files etc. and
depending on the UPS model remotely operate the device. The RAS
Managers operates in three different modes: Client, Server and
Callback. These modes can be combined in different ways to adjust the
access and security settings of the RAS Manager. In combination
with other devices such as the Sensor
Manager and the the Site
Switch 4 the RAS Manager can be used to easily design, install and
operate custom facility management systems without having to rely on
experts.
